Transform Your Fridays with Powerful Dhikr

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

Dear brothers and sisters in Islam.

All praise is due to Allah. He has blessed us with the gift of Iman and the opportunity to witness another Jumu’ah. It is the best and most blessed day of the week. On this special day, I would like to share with you a simple yet powerful practice. It is a form of dhikr, the remembrance of Allah. This practice has the potential to deeply transform our lives when done with sincerity, mindfulness, and consistency.

The dhikr is: “Ya Fattah, Ya Razzaq”, which means: “O Opener, O Provider.”

Let us take a moment to reflect on the beauty and depth of these two magnificent names of Allah.

Ya Fattah, The Opener, is the One who opens all that is closed. He opens doors that we may perceive as permanently shut. He creates pathways where we see only obstacles. He opens hearts that are hardened. He grants understanding when we are confused. He makes ways to success, relief, and clarity when everything seems blocked. If you’ve ever felt stuck in your life in your career, relationships, health, or spirituality remember that Allah is Al-Fattah. He alone can unlock the solutions we seek.

Ya Razzaq, The Provider, is the One who sustains all of creation. His provision is constant and never-ending. He provides food, wealth, knowledge, love, peace, and guidance. His rizq is not limited to financial wealth, He also provides emotional strength, spiritual contentment, and unexpected help. When you feel lost, unsupported, or burdened, turn to Ar-Razzaq. Know that He sees your struggle. He will sustain you with what you need, when you need it.

This dhikr, “Ya Fattah, Ya Razzaq,” is especially powerful for anyone seeking ease in their affairs. This includes financial, emotional, or spiritual matters. It is recommended to recite this on the day of Jumu’ah. Friday is a day full of blessings, mercy, and acceptance of prayers.

You can recite this dhikr after the Fajr prayer on Friday, or at any time during the day. Take a moment to sit in peace, ideally after making wudu. Then begin to repeat, slowly and mindfully, “Ya Fattah, Ya Razzaq… Ya Fattah, Ya Razzaq…” Say it 100 times. Focus more on your sincerity than the number of repetitions. Your presence of heart is more important.

With each repetition, imagine yourself handing over your burdens to Allah. Imagine your worries dissolving in the face of His mercy. Ask Him to open the doors that are closed in your life. Ask Him to grant you ease. Ask Him to relieve the tightness in your chest. Ask Him to give for you from where you did not expect. If you are searching for a job, this dhikr says, “Ya Allah, I trust You.” If you are trying to heal a relationship, this dhikr means you trust in Allah. If you are seeking peace of mind, this dhikr is an expression of faith in Allah. I leave my affairs in Your Hands.

Allah promises us in the Qur’an:

“And whoever relies upon Allah then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose.”
(Surah At-Talaq, 65:3)

This verse reminds us that Allah is truly enough for us. Whatever your struggle, rely on Him and He will suffice you.

On this blessed day of Jumu’ah, take a few extra moments to connect deeply with your Lord. Alongside this dhikr, take time to make heartfelt du’a. Ask Allah for whatever is on your heart. There is a special moment on Jumu’ah particularly in the last portion before Maghrib during which all du’as are accepted. Don’t miss that moment.

Also, send abundant salawat upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Even just saying “Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad” with love and sincerity can earn you immense reward. Reciting Surah Al-Kahf, giving charity, and making istighfar (seeking forgiveness) are also highly recommended acts on Friday.

Let us make use of these beautiful opportunities.

May Allah, Al-Fattah, open for us the doors of His mercy, ease, guidance, and success.
May Allah, Ar-Razzaq, bless us with halal, abundant, and continuous provision physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
May He accept our du’as. May He forgive our shortcomings. May He bless our Fridays. May He gather us in the company of the Prophet ﷺ in Jannatul-Firdaws.

Ameen Ya Rabbal ‘Alamin.
